Welcome back to Blanchard School!
We want to welcome new and returning students to Blanchard School for another exciting and productive year of learning!  Staff members have been busy preparing classrooms and the campus, so students can continue to be proud of our beautiful school.
This year for the first time, all of our kindergarteners will have a full day of instruction.   Students will learn the basic foundations of mathematics and reading, and still have time to sing, paint and play with classmates.  The Santa Paula Elementary School District has made this major commitment of time, funding and facilities because over half of our kindergarteners come to us without the advantage of a pre-school experience.  We hope this expanded program will be another piece of our plan to boost student achievement district-wide.

As Blanchard’s newly appointed acting principal, I feel fortunate to be working with the dedicated staff, students and families of Blanchard School.  As a former elementary teacher with fifteen years of administrative experience, I look forward to working diligently with staff members to continue to present academic programs that move our students to higher levels of student achievement.

Mr. Rick Cadman, Blanchard’s principal for the past six years, has been reassigned as principal of Glen City School, and will miss his Blanchard friends and colleagues. The Glen City staff, students and families will certainly appreciate his dedication and leadership skills, just as the Blanchard family appreciates the leadership he provided for us.   Families wishing to greet Mr. Cadman and share their best wishes can see him at Blanchard’s Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 in the outdoor eating area.

Parents have many opportunities to participate in their child’s education.  Watch for announcements about the School Site Council (SSC), the English Learners’ Advisory Committee (ELAC) and our very active Parent Faculty Organization (PFO), or get information at our Back-to-School Night on September 27th

Parents, guardians, and families should always feel free to call the school with any comments, questions or concerns they have about their child’s educational program.  I have already met with dozens of families, and together we can nearly always work out a plan that will best serve each individual student.  The school phone number is 933-8866.

Blanchard School has a proud tradition of parent participation and academic achievement.  Together we can continue to make Blanchard School an outstanding educational opportunity for every student.

Sincerely,
Marsha Porter, Acting Principal
Blanchard Elementary School
