Welcome to Glen City Elementary School!
My name is Rick Cadman. I have the honor and privilege of serving as the new principal of Glen City. While I am new to Glen City, I have thirty-eight years in education, thirty-three of those years here in the Santa Paula Elementary School District, as a teacher and administrator.
As Principal, I am concerned with how our pupils view Glen City. Do they feel safe? Do they have fun in school? Do they see a purpose in the activities they participate in? Are their subjects and lessons meaningful? Is homework a direct outgrowth of the day’s lesson?
In California’s current budget crisis, schools are being called on to do more with less. At Glen City, we are committed to doing everything in our power to keep our school on track in meeting the educational needs of all our students. Our commitment is to provide a strong effective instructional program focused on specific skills and knowledge to be learned.
This year we will begin a Principal’s Newsletter “The Glen City Gazette” providing you with up-to-date pertinent information about events, activities, academic programs and we hope other useful information to keep parents informed about what is happening in school.
We need your help! I urge each of you to become involved in your child’s school. We need parents willing to volunteer to work on our Parent Teacher Organization, our School Site Council, our Bilingual Advisory Committee, our Title I Advisory Committee, or in some other way. Our staff wants to promote a positive, ongoing relationship with all parents of Glen City students.
1. PTO raises money for field trips, Honor Roll Ice Cream parties and other worthwhile projects to benefit our students.
2. School Site Council members are elected each year to help develop and oversee the program and budgets of our school. This committee consists of five parents, three teachers, a classified staff member and the principal.
3. Bilingual Advisory Committee members represent other Bilingual parents and ensure the needs of our second language learners are being met.
4. Title I Advisory Committee members oversee the budget and program of Title I children to ensure their needs are being met.
At Glen City School, we believe: Each child must know what to learn and to learn it; teachers must be responsible for knowing what to teach and how to teach it; and the principal must recognize actual academic progress and know how to take action to improve achievement. To ensure student commitment to learning, parents and staff must expect more from our students.
To those students and parents returning to Glen City, welcome back and to our new students and parents, welcome, we hope your years here will be memorable.

Mi nombre es Rick Cadman. Tengo el honor y privilegio de servir como el nuevo director de Glen City. Aunque soy nuevo en Glen City, tengo treinta y ocho años en educación, treinta y tres de esos años aquí en el Distrito Escolar Primario de Santa Paula, como un maestro y administrador.
Como director, estoy preocupado de la opinión de nuestros alumnos de Glen City. ¿Si se sienten seguros? ¿Si se divierten en la escuela? ¿Si ven un propósito en los actividades que ellos participan? ¿Si sus materias tienen objeto y significado? ¿Si la tarea es una continuación del los estudios de la clase del día?
Con la crisis económica de California, las escuelas tienen que sacarle provecho al presupuesto. En la escuela Glen City, nosotros estamos comprometidos de hacer todo lo posible para mantener nuestra escuela en el camino necesario para satisfacer las necesidades educativas para nuestros estudiantes. Nuestro compromiso es ofrecer un fuerte y efectivo programa de instrucción en habilidades especificadas y en el conocimiento.
Este año vamos a comenzar mandando un boletín informativa “The Glen City Gazette” para proveerle con información corriente pertinente a los eventos, actividades, programas académicos y esperamos que otra información para mantener a los padres informados sobre lo que está pasando en la escuela.
¡Necesitamos su ayuda! Les animo a que cada uno de ustedes se involucre en la escuela de su hijo. Necesitamos padres voluntarios para trabajar en nuestra organización de Padres y Maestros, nuestro Consejo del Sitio Escolar, Comité de Asesoría Bilingüe, Nuestro Comité de Asesoría Titulo I, o en alguna otra forma. Nuestro personal quiere promover una relación continua positiva con todos los padres de los alumnos de Glen City.
1. La organización de padres y facultad recauda fondos para viajes de estudios, fiestas de nieve para la Lista de Honor y otros proyectos provechosos para el beneficio de nuestros estudiantes.
2. Comité del Consejo Escolar son elegidos cada año para ayudar desarrollar el programa y presupuesto de nuestra escuela. El comité consiste de cinco padres, tres maestros, un empleado del personal clasificado y el director.
3. Comité Consultivo Bilingüe representan a otros padres bilingües y asegura que las necesidades de nuestros niños bilingües se cumplan.
4. Comité de Titulo 1 manejan los presupuestos y el programa del Titulo I para asegurar que las necesidades de los niños se cumplan.
En la escuela Glen City, creemos: que cada niño(a) debe de saber como aprender, y aprenderlo; que los maestros deben ser responsables por saber lo que deben enseñar y saber como enseñarlo; y que el director debe reconocer el progreso académico actual y saber como tomar acción para mejorar el aprovechamiento. Para asegurar el compromiso de los estudiantes para aprender, los padres y el personal deben esperar más de nuestros estudiantes.
A los estudiantes y padres que están regresando a Glen City, bienvenidos y a los estudiantes y padres nuevos, bienvenidos, esperamos que los años aquí sean memorables.
