Dear Parents:

I am looking forward to another magnificent year at McKevett.   This is my fifth year as principal of this fantastic school.  It is thrilling to be part of the team, which consists of parents, students and the school.  This team, of which you are key, makes positive contributions to your child’s education, preparing them for the future.

As many of you know, we were given honorable mention as a California Distinguished California School.  We also earned the top rating of “10”.  This is the State’s rating when compared to other elementary schools with the same types of student population.  We have just found out that the State has given us another honor.  It is the award of being a State “Shining Star School”.  This represents our commitment to the students’ well being in three areas.  They are: Attitude, Attendance and Achievement.  This year, 60 of our students had perfect attendance.  That averages out to about 4 students in each class.  One of our students has had perfect attendance for all 6 years at McKevett!   Our students, teachers and staff are tops!

 Some of you might ask, “Why did they do so well?”  As I look at the school, I find that there are many reasons.  The top reasons are:

• The entire faculty and staff set and enforce high expectations for both themselves and for our students.  We believe every student can learn and achieve at or above his/her grade level. 

• We continue to value the whole child and in doing so, make sure the arts, both performing and visual, are woven throughout all curriculum. 

• Our parents are involved in all aspects of the school and play an integral part in the education of our students.  

• Students come to school to learn.  The school uniforms are a reminder that they are dressed for success. 

We are committed to keep our standards high and give your student the finest education possible.  I know that you want the best for your child, and we want that as well.

Estimados Padres:

Es un placer regresar y espero tener otro año magnífico en nuestra escuela McKevett.   Es mi quinto año como directora de esta escuela fantástica y es muy emocionante ser parte de esta gran familia, que consiste de padres, estudiantes, y personal escolar.  Esta familia, de el cual usted es parte, hace contribuciones positivas a la educación de su hijo/a, preparándolos para el futuro.

Como ustedes quizás estén enterados, nos dieron Honorable Mención como Escuela Distinguida de California.  También, nos calificaron con el grado superior de “10”.  Éste es un grado que da el estado cuando comparan escuelas primarias con población similares a través del estado de California.  Acabamos de enterarnos que el estado nos ha dado otro honor; y nos ha nombrado “Escuela de Estrella Brillante”.  Esto representa nuestra dedicación a los estudiantes en la siguientes tres áreas: Actitud, Asistencia y logros Académicos.  Este año, 60 de nuestros estudiantes tuvieron asistencia perfecta; un promedio de 4 estudiantes en cada salón.  ¡Uno de nuestros estudiantes ha tenido asistencia perfecta por los 6 años en McKevett!   ¡Nuestros estudiantes, maestros y personal son los mejores!

Puede que se pregunten, “¿como lo hicimos?”  Pues reflejando, encuentro que hay muchas razones.    Las mayores razones son las siguientes: 

·         El personal de la escuela tiene altas expectativas para ellos mismos y para nuestros estudiantes.  Creemos que cada estudiante puede aprender a su nivel y también alcanzar sobre su nivel. 

·         Continuamos valorando al estudiante entero y al hacer eso, involucramos los artes visuales y presentaciones en nuestro plan de estudios.  

·         Nuestros padres está involucrados en todos los aspectos de la escuela y hacen una parte integral en la educación de nuestros estudiantes.  

·         Los estudiantes vienen a la escuela para aprender.  Los uniformes de la escuela son un recordatorio que están vestidos para estudiar y tener éxito académico.  

Estamos comprometidos a mantener nuestros estándares altos y darles a los estudiantes la educación más fina posible.  Sé que desean lo mejor para su hijos y nosotros deseamos lo mismo.
